Coach Dan's Sunday Spotlight - Final episode

Good afternoon CFTP,

It’s crazy to think this will be my final Sunday Spotlight as the owner of CrossFit The Point. After 13 years and nearly 500 spotlights, it’s time for one last one.

CrossFit The Point

CFTP has been my everything. From the day we opened in 2012 until today, most of my life has revolved around this place — always doing my best to deliver the best experience for our community. There were many sleepless nights spent thinking of ways to better serve you and keep this dream alive. I’ve made my fair share of mistakes, but I’ve learned even more from all of you. There are so many memories that make me smile — and I’ll miss being so closely involved in your lives and fitness journeys.

I still laugh when I run into a past member and they immediately say, "Hey, don't worry, I'm coming back!" It’s not about that for me. I just miss seeing you. It’s like when my mom caught me sneaking cookies — you’re still loved either way! Being a small part of your accountability and journey has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Fitness may have brought us together, but friendship and community have kept us together — and that will never change.

👉 The memories we built inside those walls are forever. From Open workouts that felt bigger than life to the small wins that maybe only we noticed, every moment mattered. It created something so much bigger than a gym. It created a family, and I will always be grateful I got to be part of it.

My Plans

I plan to continue coaching at The Point for as long as they'll have me and as long as I'm able. I honestly don't think I could ever fully step away from this family. There are just too many bonds formed over the years. While I’m moving into a part-time coaching role, I’ve started my next chapter: a full-time career in real estate. It’s definitely a little scary, but also incredibly exciting. I’m ready to take everything I learned from running CFTP — hard work, service, dedication — and apply it to helping people find or sell their homes.

If you or someone you know ever needs real estate help, I’d be honored to help. Just save my number: 801-400-4953.

👉 Starting something new reminds me so much of opening CFTP — a little fear mixed with a lot of excitement. I’m ready to work just as hard to build a reputation in real estate as I did inside the gym. Whether you’re chasing a new PR or a new address, I'm still your guy.

In Conclusion

While it’s bittersweet to write this final spotlight, I’m truly optimistic about the future of SLC – The Point and all of you. The new leadership will bring great ideas and fresh energy while continuing the tradition we built together. Please give it a chance. The Point isn’t a name or a building — it’s all of you. Without you, there is no magic.

👉 Change is never easy — but just like every tough WOD, we’ll come out better and stronger on the other side. Stick together. Keep showing up. Keep being the incredible people who made The Point what it is. I’ll still be around — cheering you on, coaching beside you, and forever proud to be part of your journey. Once family, always family.

Chat GPT helped me out with a nice goodbye image.
