Coach Dan's Sunday Spotlight 2.7.2021

Good morning!

Spartacus

After 5 years we are bringing back our original individual competition, Spartacus! This will be happening at The Point on April 30th and May 1st. It has the following divisions:
Male Rx
Female Rx
Male Scaled
Female Scaled
Masters 35+
Teens 15-17 year olds

This will be fun and hopefully weather will be good enough to do some outside stuff. If you don't want to compete, we could always use some solid volunteers. Here's the link to sign up!

CrossFit Open 2021
This year's open has changed a bit. Year's past have always been 5 weeks long but this year has shifted to a 3 week format. I actually like this because by about week 4 I'm basically done anyways lol. Here's the link to sign up for this year's open. We'll be doing it through Games.CrossFit.com this year!

Why compete?
Why do we run competitions at The Point? Why do we encourage our athletes to sign up for various competitions? The answer is pretty simple in my mind. Once you put your name down for a competition, your mindset changes. You're no longer just going through the motions at the gym. You have a target. I compare it to going to the shooting range. While it's a ton of fun to just shoot, having a target to aim for makes it so much better and you get more satisfaction from "practicing". Each day you come into the gym you are "practicing" for life. I truly believe everything you do at The Point will help make you better prepared for what life will throw at you. By signing up for competitions, races, etc. will be like putting targets down range and help focus your efforts at the gym. You now have a goal and something to shoot for. It may be scary to put your name on the dotted line but I have never seen anyone regret signing up.

If you have any questions about the upcoming competitions. Please let me know!
