Coach Dan's Sunday Spotlight 5.2.2021

Good morning everyone!

Spartacus 2021
I want to first start off with a huge thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered at this year's event. I've lost track of how many competitions we have run through the years but they all have one thing in common, we have the best volunteers around.
One example of this fact is event 2 yesterday... Really events 1 and 2. In the matter of 4 hours we put 45 competitive athletes through 4 separate scored workouts! That's gotta be some kind of record.. In four hours each of our 45 competitors completed 39 minutes of work, each! That's 1,755 minutes of blood sweat and tears completed within a 240 minute span. That's incredible and it couldn't have been done without all of you.
I also want to individually thank our ever loyal sponsors who, without fail, support our events and give prizes to our winners and participants. First and foremost, Ryan "Southy" Southwick. Each and every event he gets with his connections at Ford and more than pays for the shirts and many times the podium prizes. Then we have Ethan Brown, owner of Sweet Tooth Fairy, who always graciously provides the sweetness of cake bites! And finally JJ and Erika from Clean Simple Eats who always go above and beyond with prizes for our participants. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

PR CITY
This past week has been amazing because of the hard work you all have put in the during this last strength cycle. We retested our Bench, Back Squat, and Deadlift maxes and guess what? You all are stronger than you have ever been! During this test week we saw 167 new personal records set! 167!!!
That's incredible. Congratulations to all of you and thank you for trusting the process and putting in the work. It's hard to see progress when you are in the middle of the grind but it's so great to see the fruit of your labors during test week.

Preventing injury
During this week's What's Up Wednesday, Coach Kannon gave some very important advice to help you get the most out of your experience at the gym and pointers to help you avoid injuries. If you haven't had a chance to read that, go here and give it a read. It is a very important read.

Final Word
We all have goals and the key to these accomplishing these goals is consistency. As you witnessed this past week, if you put the work in consistently, you will see results. Don't let a bad minute, bad hour or bad day derail you from your goals. Recalibrate and fight on.
